Submitting marks the response with a local copy of the server
scorer and re-mounts the runner in review mode — the same round trip the
portal does, without a database.
Preview is what a teacher gets from the activity page: live
and interactive, but with no attempt behind it, so the runner drops its
submit bar and nothing is saved.
